Over 30,000 customers across the globe rely on Seqrite’s cutting-edge Anti-Ransomware capabilities to protect businesses from being taken as hostages by hackers.

Quick Heal, the parent company of enterprise cybersecurity brand Seqrite, had predicted ransomware to be the menace of future, years ago and had envisioned building a robust defence mechanism to dynamically tackle this threat.

The current state-of-the-art patented Anti-Ransomware technology is a matured product evolving for almost a decade. Powered by Artificial Intelligence, the technology effectively detects and blocks new and unknown ransomware attacks in real-time.

Further, it effortlessly outsmarts complex and sophisticated ransomware by using a combination of signature-less & signature-based behavioural detection techniques. Advanced algorithms facilitate activity-based detection and smart data-backups in an event of a breach, garnering it a prestigious patent from The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Seqrite builds its products through an extensive study of the global threat landscape and dynamic consumer feedback.

Backing up of data was an important feature which was launched as a part of Seqrite’s Anti-Ransomware ability, after requests from a plethora of our esteemed clients. Currently, the technology effectively backs up files commonly in use on business endpoints such as Word documents, text files, Power Point presentations etc.  The files backup every two hours and can be recovered in case of an unpredictable incident of a ransomware attack.

However, enterprises should not consider Seqrite Anti-Ransomware to be an end-to-end data backup solution.

Anti-ransomware backup is meant as a malware protection feature which allows recovering a small amount of critical data in case of a ransomware attack. This feature should not be used as a replacement for an end-to-end backup solution. Businesses that want guaranteed backups against Disaster Recovery, should work with a suitable backup solution provider.

Businesses lost $8 billion to Ransomware in 2018

Caution! Businesses are bleeding dollars due to Ransomware, globally even though a lot of enterprise stakeholders have already implemented Anti-Ransomware software.

Why is this happening?

Seqrite discovered that a large number of malware attacks are occurring due to misconfigurations, especially on the server-side of a businesses’ IT infrastructure. One of the most common oversights observed is the lack of disconnecting Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) sessions to the server.

If hackers penetrate they can leverage advanced tools to bombard RDP login screens with hundreds and thousands of login ID & Password combinations and eventually gain unauthorised access into enterprise systems. Everything goes south from here on — hackers uninstall Anti-Ransomware by the same method they originally used during RDP and the attack happens.

Hence, Seqrite suggests a few tips to prevent Ransomware attacks –

  • Check your system logs regularly
  • Ensure that the RDP sessions are always disabled when not in use
  • Opt for Multi-factor authentication
  • Implement a strong password policy and change passwords frequently

In very few cases, Ransomware attacks happen despite every possible precaution adopted by an enterprise. Your data is at risk and even though Seqrite’ capabilities do back up day-to-day files, your critical data may be a victim to annihilating ransomware.

Hence, with Seqrite’s Anti-Ransomware do team-up with a full backup solution to stop worrying about complete data loss.
